Hello Engin,
I think a very important but difficult topic in armwrestling are injuries. I'm sure everybody who is pulling seriously and on a regular basis has experiences with armwrestling injuries. I would like to here your general thoughts about
- how to train with (cronical) injuries or pain (or not to train?)
- what are the best methods for recovery if you have some injuries from armwrstling (shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand)
- what are the best ways (training wise) to avoid injuries.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

hello Florian,
it is a very important subject and thanks for bringing such a subject to the forum.first of all i must say that i am not an expert about injuries but i can share what i do.
for many years being focused on my goals made me blind and i thought i was made of steel but with injuries i have finally realised that i am not made of steel.
if the injury is chronicle (which i have it) then i prefer to not to push that area but train around that area to protect the injured placed.but it would be beneficial to train the injured area without pushing it's limits (just to pump blood to help it).
i believe that the best way to recover an injury is applying ice on the injured area for 72 hours.and then some days to rest the area, then if needed a physical therapy can be helpful.if not then some days for rest and start applying heat on the injured area.and then starting to do some full motion light weight curls.and then with time it would be helpful to increase the weight to make the injured area stronger.and then it would be helpful to start pulling without putting pressure on the injured area very carefully.and then slowly&carefully increasing the pressure to let the time heal the injury.
first of all it is very important to have a good warm up before any kind of training or competetion.also it would be helpful to add some full motion trainings to keep our arms healthy.it is always better to pump our muscles to support our joints which receive a lot pressure because of armwrestling being a static sport (mostly).
i am in another city and helping the people who builds the machines that i bought for my school.so if i be late to answer the questions please forgive me.
take care,
Engin

It is a good topic Florian, I had a complete separation of the distal bicep tendon in 2006 during a match and it took many months to recover. I have found that many things help with rehab and prohab. As Engin suggests, perform dynamic and static weightlifting exercises to keep your arms healthy. I find contrast bathing helps with inflammation near the elbow. Juggling meditation balls, and training your extensors will all help reduce the inflammation in the (for both golfers and tennis elbow).
